Class 1029. Two Needle
Sewing Sustainable and Creative Clothing Using a Pieced Approach
Thu, 3/2/2023 2:30 PM-3:15 PM (Room D, Showplex)
Sat, 3/4/2023 2:30 PM-3:15 PM (Room D, Showplex)
Piecework isn’t just for quilters. You can also adopt the multiple-fabric approach to clothing. It’s a great way to use leftovers and sample pieces, which adds to your sustainability practices. Susan will show you how to plan and organize your stash to develop garments with multiple pieces. You will learn how to choose color plans that work and various methods for dividing the garment into pieces.
Class 1030. One Needle
From Pinterest to Pattern
Fri, 3/3/2023 3:30 PM-4:15 PM (Room C, Showplex)
Pinterest is a best-loved source of inspiration for many. Explore the use, and then go one step further to translate what you see online into patterns you can sew. It’s not about copying but about adaptation. Learn how to read a garment and translate the style to measurements that you can use to create or edit a pattern.
Class 2006 Two Needle
Measuring Clothing for Knowledge
Thu, 3/2/2023 8:30 AM-10:00 AM (Room F, Showplex)
Whether you sew with commercial patterns, alter clothing for improved fit, or design your own patterns, understanding garment measurements is key to success. In this class, Susan will show you the process of taking key measurements from garments to learn tips that can be incorporated into your future designs!
3035 Three Needle
Pattern Alteration for Fit Challenges
Sun, 3/5/2023 11:00 AM-1:30 PM (Room B, Showplex)
With an ever-changing body, it is essential to understand pattern adjustments and how to deal with them. The sequence involves figure/fit analysis, pattern adjustment, and test fit. Working with 1/4-scale basic patterns, students will see how to adjust them for various fit challenges, including forward shoulders, rounded back, full upper arm, large tummy, and asymmetrical bodies.
