Shawl Collars are unique in that the back collar is attached to the front pattern piece and wraps around to the back neck. There are many different styles you can create with a shawl collar ranging from tailored to very drapey collars. You will learn how to create a Mood Board which will set the tone for your design and inspire you. You will also learn how to choose your fabric and how to plan a garment by developing some base dimensions prior to creating a pattern. \n*Note: You will need to have Style Set 2 in order to have the Shawl Collar option in Garment Designer. If you are not a Garment Designer owner\, you can still participate in the webinar using a commercial pattern which you can modify. \nYou can sew\, knit\, or crochet the entire garment or mix and match parts. This jacket style is interesting because the body of the jacket can be cut in one piece. Through creative manipulation of the pattern in Garment Designer (or on the table with a commercial pattern) and some cut and paste work with the paper pattern you will build a pattern that requires only two seams! (aside from optional collar\, cuffs\, and pockets) The jacket length is up to you as is your choice of pocket\, cuff\, and collar. \nStep-by-step pattern development will be provided\, and in Class Two we will be drafting the pattern with Garment Designer ‘live together’\, each student working along as we demonstrate. \n*Note: the Jacket style is from our Easy 7 Jackets book. \nYou can sew\, knit\, or crochet the entire garment (see the knit version below)\,or you can combine fabrications.
