Overview
There are many fine paint programs out there, but in our world of textile and craft design, we soon found that no single program could do everything Cochenille Design Studio needed it to do. So we did something about it! We developed Stitch Painter. This fabulous design tool is specifically geared to the needs of textile and craft designers of all sorts and we made it so user-friendly, you scarcely need a manual. Stitch Painter will open endless doors to your creativity, tailoring itself to any design goal that uses a grid, from weaving to needlepoint and cross-stitch to knits.

Stitch Painter operates in a color grid world and everything is counted in stitches and rows. The grid may be setup as square or rectangular, and thus you can use the software for multiple textile arts. Various Plug-in modules customize Stitch Painter further for certain end uses such as stitchery, beading or intelligently importing and color reducing graphic images.
You may print directly from Stitch Painter or export in standard formats, thus allowing you to take imagery to publishing packages or other programs.

Stitch Painter currently offers a Gold version for Windows and MacIntosh computers. If you want to use any of Stitch Painter's Plug-In's, you will need the Gold version. People who need Symbols will also need the Gold version. See the descriptions below for further details. We have not released a Standard 3.0 version at this time. Email us at info@cochenille.com if you would like to be notified of a release in the future.

What's New in Stitch Painter 3 Gold?

Compatibility:

  • Apple 10.6 - 10.8
  • Windows XP to Windows 8

Security:

Stitch Painter uses a USB dongle key by Hasp. You may install the software on your desktop and your portable and move the key back and forth. This is the same key system we use with Garment Designer. Those of you who own 2.5 or greater of Garment Designer may choose to update your existing key so both programs will run. We can attempt to do this remotely. Instructions for this will follow soon.

Plug-In Modules to Stitch Painter (Gold version only)

What is the Stitch Painter philosophy?
Cochenille is pleased to announce that Stitch Painter will be growing in a modular way. Any feature that we add to the program that suits more than one craft, will be brought into the general program. Any feature that is craft specific will be brought into an add-on module that users may opt to own. Why have we chosen this approach?

To allow the program to meet specific crafters needs.

To keep the menu structure simple.

To keep costs down.

Stitchery Module
This module will allow users to shift the grid in order to view diagonal stitches (for needlepoint and plastic canvas), and to access DMC colors references.
Windows XP to Windows 8
Macintosh 10.6 to 10.8

For Gold version only
#SW-0102 $25.00 Stitchery

Beading Module
This module adds the following features:

Design with Peyote and Comanche grids which may be adjusted to any proportion.
Print out Color Counts per row, e.g. Row 1: 7 black, 3 green, 2 black, etc.
•Create custom color sets (name colors used in a document and save custom palettes).
• Follow your beading placement 'on screen' as you work, for Gold version only
Note: Loom Bead design may also be done with the Stitch Painter program operating in its regular mode.
Windows XP to Windows 8
Macintosh 10.6 to 10.8

For Gold version only
#SW-0103 $30.00 Beading

Full Color Import Module
Now you can take your full colored scanned images and import them into Stitch Painter. Choose the number of colors you are willing to work with in your project, and the number of stitches and rows, and let Stitch Painter's Plug-In do the rest. It is truly amazing. There are 10 to 12 color reduction modes, which will accomodate all types of color images (photos, clip art, etc).
Windows XP to Windows 8
Macintosh 10.6 to 10.8

For Gold version only
